More Info:

Archer Records is happy to announce the release of the latest recording from Memphis maiden Amy LaVere. With her newest release, the singer/songwriter/upright bassist once again defies any effort at simple categorization. Her Died of Love EP finds Amy tracing around the darker edges of her lovelorn repertoire, but with a distinctive new sound honed on the road since the release of Anchors and Anvils. Died of Love further reveals the dramatic range of LaVere's vocal prowess amidst five stunning and electrified songs that have become staples of recent live performances. Throughout, she weaves back and forth between wild, driving folk rock and psychedelic-tinged dirges of desperation, heartache, and loss. Recorded as a three piece with her touring band that includes drummer Paul Taylor and guitarist Steve Selvidge, the EP immediately commands attention, as Amy and company race headlong through her arrangement of the traditional "Railroad Boy (Died of Love)" and Michelle Shocked's "If Love Was a Train." Her dreamy and intoxicating take on the Tom Waits classic "Green Grass" is as evocative as the original itself, and when she revisits "Washing Machine" from Anchors, it courses with a whole new energy punctuated by heavy low-end bass, thundering guitar, and crashing cymbals. Additionally, the EP also features an arrangement from guitarist Steve Selvidge on the traditional lament "Lazarus," to which Selvidge lends his vocals. Died of Love is available now from the Archer Records webstore and will be for sale at upcoming tour dates. It is also available from most digital retailers and will be stocked by select independent retailers in the coming months. To stream a few of the new tunes visit Amy's myspace page.
