King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s 2014 fifth studio album ‘I'm In Your Mind Fuzz' – arguably Gizz at their garage-psych best – gets the Fuzz Club Bootleg treatment with this new live version pieced together from over a decade of live shows recordings. From their first time playing the classic Mind Fuzz suite on US soil in Austin, Texas in 2014, through to later 2023-2025 evolutions of the songs performed n New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and the band's own Field Of Vision festival this year. All recorded the straight the sound-desk, the Austin '14 portion was mixed by King Gizz's own Stu Mackenzie and the later 2023-2025 cuts are exclusively mixed from the soundboard stems by James Plotkin, who also helms mastering duties. 2001's 'The Smell Of Rain' heralded seismic changes for Emperor alumnus Mortiis. Mortiis stepped up to the microphone as a lead vocalist for the first time, and the album expanded to encompass more live musicians, ushering in a metamorphosis in his sound. Closer to synthpop in parts, the album clutched more tightly onto its industrial rock sensibilities and became significantly more refined and propulsive as a result. It had a lithe groove, subtle catchiness, and a thrumming, murky energy. Looking back now, it was a truly unique release for Mortiis amidst the rest of his discography.

Marvin Gaye always dreamed of being a smooth crooner, "sitting on a stool, possibly behind a piano," delivering velvety songs like Nat King Cole. But Motown had other plans. Pushed between raw R&B and polished pop, Gaye fought to find his own voice, eventually rising to become one of the greatest soul singers in history. Motown Records released the first Marvin Gaye record in 1961 "(I'm Afraid) The Masquerade Is Over", a single intended for (radio) promotion from the singer's debut album. This was followed up by the officially released "Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide" a week later. Gaye scored his first real hit with "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" in 1962, which he had co-written himself, joking about his alleged stubbornness. He found his own unique style with the single released at the end of the year: "Hitch Hike". The foundations were now laid for an enormous series of chart successes: "Pride And Joy", "Can I Get A Witness", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "Ain't That Peculiar" are all Motown classics from 1963-1965 which are still being regularly played today after all these years. The duets he recorded with Kim Weston ("It Takes Two"), especially Tammi Terrell and Diana Ross were certainly at least as good. He scored his biggest ever hit with "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" in 1968. "What's Going On" from the same titled album became a number 1 hit in the USA and the album was received as a masterpiece and is regarded as one of the most important records in pop history. In 1973, the artistically and commercially very successful, "Let's Get It On" album was mainly a musical ode to Marvin's love for his new muse Janis Hunter. His journey continued after a turbulent relationship, addiction and a dramatic creative rebirth in Belgium, where he crafte the global hit "Sexual Healing" in 1982. Marvin Gaye left behind timeless hits, groundbreaking albums, and a legacy that shaped the sound of modern soul. His story, from ambition to artistry, from struggle to brilliance, remains as powerful as the music he created. Allison and Katie Crutchfield (aka Waxahatchee) have formed a new band called Snocaps. Their 13-track debut album, released digitally as a surprise, will be made available on April 17, 2026 in vinyl & CD formats. An indie-rock record that recalls Allison’s band Swearin’ and Katie’s early records as Waxahatchee, Snocaps was born out of the twin sisters’ desire to work on music together as they had in their teens and twenties. The first LP released on Ray Charles' Tangerine Records imprint in 1963, Jimmy Scott's Falling in Love is Wonderful exists as one of the most mythic albums in vocal jazz. Due to contract disputes with his former label, Scott's Tangerine debut was shelved shortly after it was released - much like it's Atlantic Records follow-up, The Source - and went un-reissued for decades. Ultimately, Scott, a favorite of his contemporaries like Ella Fitzgerald, never became the star he should have been, but this album remains his masterpiece: A loving, tender collection filled with Scott's masterful work around a ballad.
When you name your band Prince Daddy & The Hyena, you sort of accept that chaos isn’t a chapter in your story – it’s the entire ethos.
Since forming out of Albany, NY’s DIY scene, Prince Daddy & The Hyena have built a career out of reaching their breaking point and continuing forward anyway. Their first LP, produced by Joe Reinhart, captured a very young band figuring things out in real time; their massive conceptual undertaking Cosmic Thrill Seekers followed and pushed their ambition (and patience) to new extremes. Not long after, a serious van accident nearly took their lives, directly informing the intensity of their self-titled record. Over the last decade, the band has lost close friends and collaborators, endured relationship struggles, and faced countless moments that would have ended most bands without question.
But those experiences never slowed Prince Daddy & The Hyena down. On their upcoming fourth album, Hotwire Trip Switch, they recalibrate and reconnect with their roots while sounding more focused and self-aware than ever. Reuniting with Joe Reinhart for the first time in nearly a decade, the album pulls from the punchy lineage of Green Day, the hook-driven quirk of Weezer, the snarky urgency of Joyce Manor and Jeff Rosenstock – all through the distinctly bratty lens of songwriter and vocalist Kory Gregory. He’s backed by an airtight band including guitarist Cameron Handford, drummer and vocalist Daniel Gorham, and bassist Jordan Chmielowski. Despite being known for crafting full-length experiences and hiding easter eggs between tracks, Hotwire Trip Switch was written as Prince Daddy’s first-ever “singles” record. Kory purposefully went into the writing process with a mission to actualize entire visions between the beginning and ending of individual songs, rather than relying on the context to click only during a full album listen. Without the added pressure to connect the dots, the result is some of the band’s catchiest and most instant material to
date.
Across the album’s 12 tracks, Hotwire Trip Switch shows off drastically different sides of Prince Daddy & The Hyena where exaggerating and experimenting are simply tools for sharpening and zeroing in on each song’s vision. “Big Box Store Heart” is his warped attempt at writing a love song, inspired by the loneliness of going grocery shopping without his partner. “24-03-04_Birthday_B4” was written and finished in a single, mushroom-fueled day that Kory calls his “best birthday ever.”
In the end, Hotwire Trip Switch doesn’t attempt to escape the chaos that seems to follow Prince Daddy & The Hyena like a shadow. Instead, it embraces it – wires running hot, pushed past their limits, and somehow still charging forward into whatever comes next. When the idea of recording a 4th album came up (for the second time), American Football knew things were going to get darker. After touring a year's worth of sold-out 25th Anniversary shows around the world and releasing a covers album (featuring Iron & Wine, Ethel Cain, Blondshell & more), the quartet of Mike & Nate Kinsella, Steve Lamos, and Steve Holmes, linked up with producer / engineer Sonny Diperri (My Bloody Valentine, M83, Kurt Vile) to record what would become their most substantial record to date. Blending atmospheric textures with emotive, post-rock style catharsis, LP4 is unlike anything American Football have recorded thus far, yet it fits right in with their evolving and beautiful catalog. Despite its title, Ratboys’ new album Singin’ to an Empty Chair is not defined by what’s missing. Rather, it’s the beginning of an important dialogue with a close loved one, vocalist Julia Steiner finds herself estranged from. The music on the band’s sixth studio album – its first for New West Records – fills the space that person left behind with 11 songs showcasing Ratboys at the peak of their powers — twangy, effervescent, as confident as they’ve ever been, and perhaps more emotionally interrogative than ever before. The four-piece Chicago band followed up 2023’s highly acclaimed The Window by reconvening with co-producer Chris Walla to begin tracking at a rural Wisconsin cabin before taking the songs to Steve Albini’s famed Electrical Audio studios in Chicago and later to Rosebud Studio in Evanston, Illinois. Sexmob features Steven Bernstein on brass, Briggan Krauss on saxophone and guitar, Tony Scherr on bass, Douglas Wieselman on winds and guitar, and Kenny Wollesen on drums and percussion. The album features twenty-three songs, including many favorites from throughout Anderson’s career, performed in new arrangements—plus one by Lou Reed and Metallica, “Junior Dad.”
